“I really appreciate these news articles. I have already applied some of the recommendations on cleaning products and laundry detergent to use. I am now interested in reading more books about women's health. I need to educate myself more to be able to go into appointments and recognize when I am not getting the care that is needed. Knowledge is powerful and I am becoming aware of how much I need to learn about women's health and my own body. Love this!! Keep doing Amazing things Alana!!”

Meet Your Haven Team

Alana M. Abernethy

Chief Writer & Founder—Evergreen Women’s Holistic Care

Women’s Holistic Health Practitioner, Journalist, and 2010 Naval Academy Graduate, Alana is deeply passionate about supporting other women in their healing and health journeys.

She unexpectedly medically retired in 2022 after a Stage IV Endometriosis diagnosis. Determined not to trade one long-term health challenge for multiple long-term health challenges, she trusted her gut to forgo hormone therapy and explore the benefits of holistic healing through nutrition and lifestyle changes.

She educated herself on the ins and outs of Endometriosis, learned to listen to her body’s physical and emotional needs, and sought the care of Holistic Practitioners in Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, and Western Modalities.

After successfully healing her body with the support of a community of women holistic practitioners, she pursued her formal education as a Holistic Health Practitioner focusing on Women’s Health.

With several years of personal experience and formal education, Alana opened her private practice, Evergreen Women’s Holistic Care, to transform women’s health through accessible holistic care, bodywork, and women’s health education.

She’s now earning her Master’s Degree in Journalism at Harvard Extension School.

Alana currently lives in San Diego, CA, enjoying the sun and the fulfillment of nurturing others.
